Seasonal, Monday

Seasonal, Week Three

Coming from Illinois and Seattle and now being in California sometimes I feel like I have lost something near and dear to me. That being Seasons. I love them. I love the harsh winters and the really hot summers, I love the sporadic rain showers of spring and the bright amazing colors of fall. Here the the trees stayed green and there is never any chance of snow and in the summer I have to wear my northface for weeks and sometimes dont see the sun because of the fog. It's odd to me. So I wanted to explore it with my camera. And also I think its interesting what stands out to other people about Seasons. It's not just climate but also the general setting of what's going on culturally. So here goes...

Rapport, Monday

Rapport, Week Two

Rapport is one of my favorite words. Not simply because it rolls of my tongue in that sophisticated and sexy French way, but mainly because it sounds just as important as it is. It develops in every relationship that one has in their lives. Whether a boss or a lover or a friend, the unspoken way of things is fascinating to watch as it unfolds. It can be said to have a life of its own. The concept can also be applied beyond the interpersonal level, and can be seen in the interactions and relationships between physical objects or even complex systems or groups. When I first came up with this idea for a weekly theme, I immediately over-thought it, my college brain was obviously yearning for some theory intepretation! But regardless of the depths of its possible interpretations, the rapport of your life is thejuicy stuff! Either positive or full of tension, it makes us act and feel and move. And that's all we can really ask for right?

Food, Monday

Food, Week One

Our very first theme is Food. I chose this partly because food is sustaining on many levels and always plays a dynamic roll in our lives no matter what form it takes. As far as pictures go, it also is bound to give us vibrant colors and textures. As far as my life is concerned food and me have a love-hate relationship currently. American society is so incredibly food obsessed (I guess I'm not helping that here). The portion size is so off base that people are eating way too much and thinking, "what?! It's just dinner!". This in turn has caused the US to be super fat and also at a higher risk for heart disease, diabetes and most forms of cancer. Cheery, isn't it? Kinda gross.

So for week one I bring you food.
