Organization, Monday

Organization

So....organization. Oh hell. I have a love hate relationship with this aspect of my life. On the one hand, I have a history of being extremely unorganized. Another lovely gene I inherited from my mother. On the other hand (and unlike my mother), I have changed slash improved immensely in the past decade or so on this matter. I really have. I still have my moments and am no where near the anal retentive level of some of my dearest yet completely crazy friends, it has become something of a challenge that really has helped me in all areas of my life. I mainly have Microsoft Outlook (and comptuers in general) to thank, and sticky notes, and my really awesome 97 cent 'take me everwhere, I'm solid and reliable and keep things together' clipboard. Thats really all it took. Ok, really, enough about me. Organization. Its a fetish for some, a pain for others, but its everywhere. Even our minds are programed to think in terms of categorization and themes and styles and format. So I say embrace it! And hell its got to make for some really awesome "peek into our lives" type photos. Not to mention some almost modern art looking office snapshots!

Shadow, Monday

Shadow, Week 15

Shadows are usually a happy accident in photos. And most often they can turn an ok picture into real art. I'm not sure how to fabricate that amazing shadow shot - but we'll see. I'm gonna let the struggle of doing this speak for itself in our photo sets. I can't wait to read the comments! :)

Freedom, Monday

Freedom

Freedom. It means so many things. Considering how we manipulate that term politically in the United States, you would think it would be hard to define, but in all reality its a simple term, one that can be applied in all settings. But not without risk. We are free to be ourselves, we are free to do what we want, but none of that comes without consequence. I think that is the most underestimated aspect of the concept. What is it that we truly want from the idea of freedom, no consequences, no backlash, no reality? All philosphosizing aside, the freedom of photography is very clear. We are able to freely catch what that moment holds, without constraint. What do you wish to say? What does the picture hold?

Water, Monday

Water, Week 13

This week's theme is all about the life giving element, water. Water is awesome because... you know.. we need it to survive and all. It's also cool because it's pretty and comes in many forms. Lakes. Rivers. Oceans. The cooler at work. Bath tubs. Showers. Teeth brushing. Lots of things. Spit. Sweat. Steam. Ice. It's also neat because it reflects, its see-through, and it ripples. All good photography things. I'm being kind of silly because, what the hell do I say about water? I thought it would be a cool thing to take pictures of and I thought the comparisons would be pretty awesome as well. Let's hope I'm right.
